Uma família norte-americana do estado da Georgia, teve uma surpresa quando, uma semana depois de comprar a árvore de Natal, descobriu que havia uma coruja a fazer ninho por entre os ramos.
Katie McBride Newman que publicou a foto no seu Facebook explicou sexta-feira passada, que juntamente con a filha, descobriu a ave a 12 de Dezembro.
Tinham comprado a árvore de três metros numa loja local, trouxeram-na para casa, em Atlanta, e decoraram-na com luzes. E imaginem só! Com ornamentos de coruja, também.
"Foi surreal, mas não ficámos assustadas. Somos pessoas que gostamos muito da vida ao ar livre e adoramos a vida selvagem", revelou Katie à Associated Press.
A família ainda abriu as janelas e portas perto da árvore para ver se a coruja voava, e voltava para o exterior, mas tal não aconteceu.
"Parecia muito confortável e pensei que a coisa não ia correr bem porque ali não havia comida", disse o marido, Billy Newman.
Decidiram então chamar uma associação de apoio animal para ajudar a coruja. Chattahoochee Nature Center conseguiu apanhar a ave e depois ajudou a família a libertá-la.

A Georgia family got a real hoot from its Christmas tree: more than a week after they bought it, they discovered a live owl nestled among its branches.
Katie McBride Newman said on last Friday that she and her daughter spotted the bird on 12 December. They had bought the 10ft-tall tree from a Home Depot, brought it back to their Atlanta area home and decorated it with lights and, coincidentally, owl ornaments.
“It was surreal, but we weren’t really freaked out about it,” McBride Newman said. “We’re really outdoorsy people. We love the wilderness.”
The family opened windows and doors near the tree hoping the owl would fly away, but it didn’t. Read more here
