Drawing from over 100 hours of never-before-seen footage that has been tucked away in the National Geographic archives for over 50 years, award-winning director Brett Morgen tells the story of Jane, a woman whose chimpanzee research challenged the male-dominated scientific consensus of her time and revolutionized our understanding of the natural world.

Set to a rich orchestral score from legendary composer Philip Glass, the film offers an unprecedented, intimate portrait of Jane Goodall — a trailblazer who defied the odds to become one of the world’s most admired conservationists.

When it comes to conservation, few names are as recognizable as Jane Goodall. Her time in Africa studying chimpanzees gave us a new understanding of primate behavior and humanized a species that had long been misunderstood.

Jane Goodall was 26 and had no scientific degree when she first ventured into the forest, hoping to gain acceptance from chimpanzees inclined to run from her was mostly exploring on her own.

Jane honors its subject's legacy with an absorbing, beautifully filmed, and overall enlightening look at her decades of invaluable work.

"Morgen's fashions a firsthand account of what Ms. Goodall learned about the chimps’ capacity for toolmaking, nurturing and cruelty, and what they taught her when she became a parent herself."

Ben Kenigsberg, NYT, September 2017

"Ms. Goodall - who was 26 and had no scientific degree when she first ventured into the forest, hoping to gain acceptance from chimpanzees inclined to run from her - was mostly exploring on her own."

Goodall is a force of inspiration for many. Schools teach her story with reverence, and thousands of young people, girls in particular, grow up wanting to follow in her footsteps and journey into the wild unknown.

Don't miss the film this school season at a theatre near you.
