Earth Day 2008 teve a sua origem nos Estados Unidos junta, neste momento, no espaço ligado à Educação mais de 1 000 pessoas de vários países, num esforço única de educar as gerações mais jovens para a preservação do ambiente.

Actualmente, os eventos e actividades, a nível mundial, são coordenados por uma organização internacional, a Rede Dia da Terra

Os Green Torrinhas estão inscritos desde 14 de Janeiro de 2008.

Alunos das Turmas G| H | I do 5º Ano da Escola Francisco Torrinha desenvolvem actividades nas aulas de Língua Portuguesa. Sentem-se jovens cidadãos ambientalistas, desde cedo, empenhados na defesa do ambiente.

Na continuação da participação no Ano Polar Internacional 2008, dedicam-se agora a criar novos projectos a desenvolver até 30 Abril na sua "Semana Verde 2008."

Salvemos o planeta Terra!

Portuguese young students k12 (78 students, aged 10-11, G|H|I classes, of middle school in Porto (Portugal) are celebrating their Green Day for a week.

During the Green Week (17.04.08-30.04.08) they are working on:

• Green Board Paper (3 classes);

• Writing and drawing little stories, poems, flyers;

• "Green Writers" : a contest between classes.There will be prizes;

• Distribution of flyers and green & white balloons in the school;

• Green Coin (planting one flower per class);

• Blog "Geração Verde (in publication) by different students.
